Cancer Angels of San Diego (CASD) Founder, Eve Beutler, announced today the appointment of Marjorie Holmstrom to Executive Director as it prepares to expand its client base and services not only within the San Diego County community, but in its strategic plans for future growth throughout California and the United States.
"What? Doesn't he/she have insurance?"
This statement is a natural, innocent response to , "My friend has Stage IV cancer and can't pay the rent". There seems to be a disconnect between having insurance and being able to pay for the basic necessities of life. Some times it's too hard to face the reality that people with cancer face this terrible situation.
Georgia M, a Stage IV cancer patient, makes us aware that although new medications have kept her alive, she is unable to work, therefore, unable to provide for herself and her daughter. This is the plight of 25% of Stage IV cancer patients in San Diego County.Channel 10 News reports on "The Forgotten Patients".
